Oh my sweet boy makes me laugh with his 5 year old thoughts.
SINGING
Brayden loves singing. He has taken his sister's love for music and turned it in to his own. Anytime we start playing a new song in the car or he hears something fun in a movie he immediately wants it on his iPod. I love to hear him sing what he thinks the lyrics are.
David Crowder "After All"
Right Lyrics - You are Holy, Oh Holy
Brayden's Lyrics - You are Hoooooly-Moooooly
Even his preschool teacher commented that she loves when Brayden comes in and talks about a new song he got on his iPod. We have been listening to a new CD by Jared Anderson called the "The Narrow Road" and one of the songs is called "Impossible Possible". Brayden told me he was singing it at school, but quietly so the other kids couldn't hear him.
OLD
The other night when I was putting Brayden to bed he and I had this brief talk.
Brayden - Are you old?
Mommy - (Thought - He thinks I look old?) Well, I am older. Not as old as some people, but older than you.
Brayden - Well, you look kind of old.
Mommy - (Thought - Confirmation) Okay, thanks buddy.
EXCITED
Sarah and I are going to be away Friday and Saturday for her JBQ Regionals Event. Aunt Susie, Sammy and Stephen will be picking Brayden up from school on Friday and he will be spending the afternoon with them. Thank you in advance Aunt Susie.
Of course since Brayden found out that Aunt Susie would be picking him up he keeps asking when she is going to pick him up and when I am leaving. This morning, his prayer and our discussion.
Brayden - (Praying) Thank you that we can have a great day today. Thank you that Aunt Susie gets to pick me up from school tomorrow and I get to have lunch at their house and I get to spend the afternoon with them. Amen.
Mommy - Your not excited for Aunt Susie to pick you up from school are you?
Brayden - Yes, I am.
Mommy - No, your not excited.
Brayden - Oh, yes I am.
Mommy - Are you excited for me to go away?
Brayden - No.
Mommy - Come on, I think your excited for me to leave.
Brayden - Okay, yes I am.
THE CUP
Brayden's T-ball coach suggested that all the boys wear a cup with their baseball outfit because even at their young age a ball could come up and hit them and it will hurt. I of course sent Jason out to make this purchase, what do I know about this kind of stuff. He came back with several options and Brayden chose the cup he liked the best. I don't know if any kid has been more excited to wear a cup. As soon as Brayden chose which one he wanted he was ready to try it out. He want Jason to go out in the backyard with him and throw a couple of balls so he could test out this new accessory to his t-ball uniform. The trial run was a success and he liked it.
This past Saturday getting ready for his game I was helping him get dressed since Jason couldn't go and was wondering if this cup was really necessary, but Brayden wanted to wear it. At the game a little girl ended up getting hit with the ball in her private area and she was crying, so guess that is a confirmation that he should definitely wear the cup.
At last nights game he was first baseman and a ball game up and hit him there. After he threw the ball back to the coach he yells to me "I used it!" and points to his cup. I was cracking up. Way to go Brayden! He was so proud.
Attempting to record and hold on to the day-by-day moments of this not so ordinary family of four.

Grandma Brown...
Talk about celebrating a milestone, my Grandma Brown who lives in Michigan turned 100 years old this last Wednesday. Happy Birthday Grandma Brown!
My mom, Aunt Evelyn and Aunt Kathleen all made the trip to be able to celebrate with her. |
They also made her an album of our family through the years. |
From what they said she looked at it for hours after they left. |

Grace at 14...
This past Wednesday my niece Grace celebrated her 14th birthday. Really, 14?
Grace had a spring formal at her school last weekend and my sister had been sending me different pictures of the dress when they bought it, then what Grace's hair was going to look like and even the incredible find of her $10 shoes. However, I hadn't seen all the pieces put together, so when I got this picture from my sister I was taken back.
So beautiful! I think she is absolutely gorgeous and a pretty amazing girl.
Happy Birthday Grace! We are excited to see what year 14 holds in store for you. We all wish that we lived closer to share so much more in each others lives. We love you.

T-Ball...
Brayden has been drafted at 5 years of age onto the Wanaque Hot Rods T-ball team. We believe this is only the beginning of an amazing baseball career. Everyone has to start somewhere and when your five t-ball is the place.
The Hot Rods had their first game on Saturday morning against the Riverdogs. Brayden has 9 other teammates, 2 of them girls. These 4 and 5 year olds are so cute and hilarious. FaFa & Grandma joined us for opening day and we had some good laughs. Kids running after the ball when they should be running for the base. Kids staring out in space as the ball rolls right by them. Kids with helmets so big they can't see where to run. Kids yelling to their moms from 2nd base "I'm going to get a bagel after this!" Kids showing each other their chest protectors. Kids running and rolling on the ground randomly. I love it.
Brayden is so excited to be playing. His favorite part is when he gets to hit the ball. It will be a fun season to watch him learn and play.

Happy Birthday Sarah....
Today Sarah celebrated her 12th birthday.
It was an ordinary day as far as activities go. She had school today and youth tonight at church. I made brownies for youth so they could celebrate with her.
However, we know that she is not an ordinary girl but formed to be someone extraordinary and for great purposes. We look forward to seeing what year 12 holds for our girl.

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous - how well I know it.
You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion
As I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

Celebrate Sarah, Sleep and Shop...
To celebrate Sarah's 12th birthday coming up next Wednesday she wanted to spend some time with some of her best girlfriends having a sleepover and going shopping.
Friday night Sarah had Cayla, Abby and Gabriella over to spend the night. JBQ practice was first at church and at 9 p.m. I picked them up. They had a fun night full of talking and giggles. They were supposed to go to bed at 11:30, but fell asleep around 12:15 they said.
They slept in this morning and woke up energetic and ready to goof off and giggle some more. Brayden was desperate to be a part of the fun as you can see in the pictures below.
Sarah's favorite monkey bread was on the menu for breakfast. The monkey bread was so warm that it was melting the 12 candles I had put in it, so we ended up with just 2.
Around noon it was off to the mall for an afternoon of shopping at some of their favorite stores and then ice cream sundaes at 16 Handles, another of Sarah's favorite spots. I gave them a little bit of freedom today in their shopping by letting them go into their stores and shop for a bit and then I would go in and see what they were thinking of buying. It worked out great for all of us.
I think the girls had a great time. Sarah says her highlight from the day was just being with her friends. They are all wonderful girls and I am so thankful that they are in Sarah's life.
