Things have been busy here in the James household for the past couple of months. Birthdays, JBQ, school activities, church activities, T-ball, ordination, more JBQ practices, yard sales, summer clothes shopping, dentist, orthodontist, doctor appointments. Nothing really out of the norm for most families, but come this time of year I think most moms are looking forward to summer vacation and a change of pace. Me included.
I told my girlfriend yesterday that I am so happy that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13) because I am feeling a little tired, physically and mentally. I will take all the strength He gives me. I am so ready for the day to day routine of school and all the activities that come along with it to quiet down for a few months.
Just a few things we are looking forward to...
- Quieter mornings, no rushing to get ready for school and out the door.
- Sleeping in
- Summer outings
- Hot days for Slip & Slide and swimming at Grandma's pool
- Vacations in Maryland and Florida
- Having time to read books again
- Long summer evenings
- Evening walks with friends
- Golfing
- BBQs
- Lazy days with Sarah & Brayden
- Extra family time
I want to embrace these summer days. My kids are getting bigger and I don't want to miss all that this summer will hold. Brayden is graduating from preschool and ready to start Kindergarten in the fall. Sarah will be finishing 6th grade and is flying on her own to Texas this weekend for JBQ Nationals. Okay, that sounds a bit dramatic. She is not flying on her own, she is going with our church team, but neither Jason or I are going with her. Not sure if I would have let her do that a year ago. Anyway...all that to say, where has the time gone? My babies are not babies anymore and come this fall I won't have anyone at home during the day, a new season for me. I don't want to think about it, gets me a bit emotional.
We just rounded the corner and are in the home stretch to summer. One day for Brayden and 13 more schools days left for Sarah. Can't wait to cross the finish line.
