Two and a half weeks ago my girlfriend Michele had hip replacement surgery. She ended up being in the hospital several days longer than she anticipated. We kept in touch with her for her first few days after surgery via texts, but by day 4 we asked if we could visit since she was still in the hospital.
We called it "Mission Michele". It is always a fun adventure doing anything with these girls even to visit a friend in the hospital. We got to spend a couple of hours with Michele as she filled us in on the surgery and how she was feeling and then we each had a chance to give an update on how our lives were going. We don't get to all be together very often, so it was nice to catch up while keeping Michele company.
Michele is an incredible person and artist who has had many many surgeries in her life due to her form of Dwarfism. However, despite all the surgeries and obstacles she has faced she shows amazing courage and strength, which I know is because of her relationship with Jesus Christ. She is an example to me in so many ways - caring, gracious, compassionate, trusting, thoughtful. We became friends through our hobby of scrapbooking over 12 years ago and our friendship has grown deeper ever since.
