Washington, DC - Day 2 (My Birthday)

After a good night's sleep we started day 2 by celebrating my birthday in Washington, DC with breakfast at Starbucks. Can't imagine spending my day with anyone else then my 3 favorite people.

After breakfast we headed to see the National Museum of American History.
The flag was amazing! It was stored under special conditions, so we couldn't take any pictures.
The earliest known manuscript of Francis Scott Key’s song, the Star Spangled Banner.
Julia Child's Kitchen
Our own "American History Makers"
One of our favorite Muppets
Dorothy's Ruby Red Slippers from the Wizard of Oz. A highlight for Sarah.
The video camera that captured the first plane crash into the Twin Towers on 9/11/01
George Washington's uniform
Kyle, Christy, Sophia and Caleb met up with us for the day and we went to the National Museum of Natural History to check out the dinosaurs.
There's Rexy
Glad I didn't meet up with this Great White Shark when it was alive.
The famous Hope Diamond. A mere 45 carats. It started as 122 carats.
The kids were unimpressed and thought this rock was the Hope Diamond.

A stop at the carousel for a ride.

Onto the National Museum of Air & Space
One of Amelia Earhart's planes.

Finally after two days of asking Brayden got his Spiderman ice cream.

Last stop was a boat cruise on the Potomac River, which was a little disappointing, but we enjoyed the time together.
Caleb with a trooper. He went all day with us only taking a 10 minute nap.

One more post yet to come for the rest of our vacation.
