First, the girls exchanged gifts with one another. Sarah gave Cayla a journal with a heartfelt letter (Sarah wanted me to include that), EOS lip balm and 2 bags of Skittles which are Cayla's FAVORITE.
Cayla had already pulled me aside earlier in the week to say that she had a surprise gift for Sarah, but wanted to give her a pair of ugly Christmas sock to throw Sarah off. That back fired on Cayla because Sarah LOVED the socks, so she went straight for the real gift she had for her.
Cayla, with the help of Uncle Rich and Aunt Melissa, made this amazing collage of pictures of the two of them from their first play date until now.
We were all blown away by it. It was so sweet. I love it and it wasn't even my gift, but I love it because it shows their friendship through their 13 years. These two girls are so amazing, each in their own way. These two best friends are different in many ways yet they love and accept that about one another and encourage each other in who they are.
After much to do about this amazing gift we got down to decorating cookies and a lot of goofying off. You could totally tell which cookies were Brayden's this year, lots of M&M's or mini chocolate chips. I added a green gel pen this year, which I wasn't crazy about, but Cayla and Sarah were all over.
My sweet boy said he was trying to spell "Joy" on this cookie, but just couldn't get it to fit. |
Sarah's favorite cookie she decorated. |
A Mrs. Snowman, very creative. |
Each year Sarah and Cayla make a "BFF" cookie for one another. They both went for the green gel pen, unfortunately it hadn't hardened and was sliding as the pictures kept going.
After that I lost them, not that I had them before, and then Brayden had to get in on the fun.
